You can read and post stories without an account. We do not ask for your name. When you post, we store your story and an anonymous code kept in your browser, so that your phone can find your own story again and add updates. Phone numbers and M-Pesa codes are removed from stories automatically before publishing. If you give us a WhatsApp number or email for a paid service, we use it only to reach you about your story; it is never published.
Files sent with a paid story are stored privately, are only seen by our review team, and are automatically deleted after 30 days. Only the edited version we publish — a voice note with the pitch changed, a screenshot with details blacked out — is ever made public.
We count visits, story reads, votes and reactions using an anonymous code stored in your browser, plus which site you arrived from. We do not collect your name, your location or your phone number for this, and we do not sell any data or use advertising trackers.
Creating an account stores your email address, the profile you fill in, your photos, and a selfie used once to check you are a real person. The app uses your location while you choose to broadcast, so it can show you people nearby. Your selfie is private and is never shown to other users.
Payments are handled by Paystack and M-Pesa. We never see or store your PIN or full payment details. We keep a record of the payment reference and the phone number that paid, so we can confirm and refund payments.
Our team, for review and support. Our technology providers, who store the data for us: Supabase (database and files) and Cloudflare (website hosting). We share data with anyone else only if the law requires it.
You can ask us to delete your account, your story or your comments at any time by emailing [email protected]. Under Kenya's Data Protection Act you can also ask what we hold about you and ask us to correct it.
